2008-2009 online voter registration guidelines

Registering to Vote:

  1. Go the website: www.votefromabroad.org.
  2. On the bottom of the page click Start Wizard.
  3. Make sure to enter your last state of residence in the US or if you have never lived in the US, a state of residence of either parent.
  4. Follow the instructions on the next series of pages which will include your personal information and where to send your Absentee Ballot.
  5. If not already a member, you may select to join Democrats Abroad at the end of the series of questions.
  6. Click Review Info at which point you may edit the information you have entered.
  7. After reviewing the information click Finish.
  8. At the bottom of the page click Get Completed Form and open the adobe file onlinefpca.pdf. Print the file.
  9. Carefully follow the instructions on the first page.
  10. Mail in the form titled: REGISTRATION AND ABSENTEE BALLOT REQUEST - FEDERAL POST CARD APPLICATION (FPCA).
  11. Address the envelop to the address provided on the first page and
    1. Either: Mail the envelope with proper postage to the US with the following header before the address: OFFICIAL ABSENTEE BALLOTING MATERIAL - FIRST-CLASS MAIL                     
    2. Or : Bring the addressed envelope, free of postage, to the US Consulate General of São Paulo tel: (11) 5186-7000 at:                                                    Rua Henri Dunant, 500,                                                                   Chácara Santo Antonio,                                                                               São Paulo, SP — 04709-110

Voting:

  1. Fill out the Absentee Ballot when received (usually 25-40 days before the Election Day).
  2. If you have not received it within 25 days of the election, please send in the OFFICIAL FEDERAL WRITE-IN ABSENTEE BALLOT which you printed out with the onlinefpca.pdf file. Carefully follow the instructions provided in the file.

Registering With Democrats Abroad:

  1. Go to the website www.democratsabroad.org
  2. In the upper right corner click the Join link or the center page Join Now link.
  3. You will create an online account with Democrats Abroad which simultaneously registers you with Democrats Abroad (DA).
  4. Make sure to fill in all the required fields denote by a red asterisk.
